Kia Ora my name is Connor Julian Adams. Well this is Doris's walk, but yeah we're at the Abbotsford Conburn or the children's farm. I like coming here because it's close to wildlife. It’s kind of contrasting to the city. It's very nice and green. There's a few cows and sheep. I'm guilty of not being a huge walker, I think because we run so often I think I'm a bit of a lazy walker to be honest.
Would you say runnings become a little bit of your personality then?
Yeah running’s something that can be taken away from you quite easily if you don’t look after yourself properly. Yeah it's a big part I guess of what I do and sort of been the gift that keeps on giving since I started doing it.

Obviously congrats on The Speed Project. Would you say that that's now kind of changed how you like to run?
It just sort of felt like it was something I was kind of drawn to doing and push and challenge ourselves, not just for me but for our team and crew back in New Zealand. It was pretty awesome to push my own limits and capabilities but see the team also do the same and sort of just be there to support and empower each other to get it done.
And then what's next for Grave Runners?
We’re still in the doing phase I guess the bit post The Speed Project. We have a gallery exhibition coming up with Tempo. That is the end of July. We’ll look to really celebrate some of the content and stuff we got from that just to give it a tangible lifespan. I feel like it's important.
What’s your take on the growth of the running community in Australia and New Zealand?
It’s having a bit of a boom at the moment and there's always going to be that kind of capitalistic sort of standpoint. I always try to say like I'm never going to allow that to take away what running serves me as an individual first. It’s a positive thing if people are doing it because it's cool but they're ultimately taking care of themselves.
You’ve also got a bit of a coffee background as well, what do you reckon just works so well when it comes to running and coffee?
It's like a social thing. Running and coffee afterwards is just like the juxtaposed positioning to catching up at the MOLl or at the pub on a Friday night you know.
Do you have a hot running take you'd like to share with us?
That’s a tough one probably, each to their own but I haven't ran with music for quite some time that'd probably be my personal one. It sort of happened by default like literally in COVID when I was still living in Auckland I had the old headphones with the wire and I was running in the rain and then the rain probably and my sweat broke the headphones and then I haven't actually ran with them since.
What's thirsty work to you?
Cracking some spicy water as we call it over here after a long run, maybe on a Sunday long run having a cold beverage after I would say is pretty thirsty work.
What’s your take on electrolytes?
Definitely something that's super important I would say if you're doing any form of exercise. If you're exerting yourself it's really important to put electrolytes back in and like quicker recovery time and electrolytes pre or post run for sure always.
Yeah into it. And how do you balance your work, running and lifestyle?
Just making time for yourself I would say. I always try to make work, work to my lifestyle as well and my life in and outside of work are both pretty fluid.
Thank you so much, thanks Doris. Is there anyone we should walk with next?
I'm gonna throw Tess from AMPM and Affy under the bus keeping the dog theme going so…
Our little four legged friends.
Sorry not sorry Tess I know you love to chat. Maybe you guys can go for a run together.
